II International Forum Ukraine: country and city branding: The “UKRAINE” brand starts with a greeting and a smile, or with a regular Ukrainian.

On December 7, 2011 there took place in Kyiv II International Forum Ukraine: country and city branding. It was dedicated to current issues in developing and promoting Ukraine’s attractive contemporary brands, its regions and cities. The focus of this year’s Forum included the question of capitalizing on the European Soccer Cup and discussing what steps are necessary to take over the next six months before Euro 2012. Another pertinent question was this: what are the long-term goals of Ukraine’s communication campaign after Euro 2012?

The one-day Forum gathered some 200 participants, including representatives of Ukrainian and international companies, of professional and business initiatives, of local government bodies, and of NGOs.

The forum is organized by PRP, fedoriv.com, and WikiSitiNomics.

The following honorary participants and speakers visited the Forum this year: Anatoliy Kinakh, President of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; Andre Gil Garcia, a senator in the upper House of the Parliament of Spain; Beka Dzhakeli, Deputy Chairman at Department of Tourism and Resorts of Georgia; Ihor Zhovkva, Director of the Department for National Projects, State Agency of Ukraine for Investment and National projects, Oleg Zasadny, Head of EURO 2012 Department, Lviv City Council, Iryna Danilevska, founder of Ukraine’s Fashion Week; Oleksand Koval, deputy head of the Chief Administration of Internal Policy at the Kiev City State Administration; Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze, executive director of the Yalta European Strategy – YES; Natalia Zabolotna, General Director of Mystetskyi Arsenal, the national culture and art and museum complex; Pavel Gudimov, founder of Ya Gallery; and many others.

In addition to the Ukrainian speakers, international experts in territory marketing shared their experience and ideas with the Forum’s participants: Lethepu Matshaba, Head of Marketing at FIFA World Cup 2010 (South Africa), Ariane Derks, Managing Director of the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative. Discussing concrete projects and events, they demonstrated how to manage a country’s reputation.

International Forum Ukraine: Country and Citiy Branding is Ukraine’s first annual international-scale venue dedicated to timely issues pertaining to the country’s brand and reputation. The Forum’s goal is to attract the best international and Ukrainian experience in these areas and to establish fruitful contacts between the responsible governmental bodies, professional and business initiatives, self-governing bodies, civic associations and international organizations that work towards improving Ukraine’s reputation in the world.
